Who We Are

Rico and Riley met in college and quickly became inseparable. Their connection was intense and immediate, like finding a long-lost twin flame. Even after college ended and they moved to different states, they still talked every day and remained best friends. Then, fate intervened once again when they both unexpectedly became pregnant just months apart. Their daughters were born so close that they almost felt like sisters themselves. Despite the distance, they remained each other's greatest supporters and confidantes.

Rico and Riley were both stay-at-home moms, drowning in the chaos of raising toddlers while their partners worked long hours. The endless cycle of diaper changes, tantrums, and snack requests left them frazzled and craving an outlet—something just for them.

One night, during one of their daily phone calls (because even states apart, they refused to miss a day), Riley mentioned she’d tried making a candle out of boredom. Rico laughed—until she admitted she had been secretly experimenting with wax blends too.

Suddenly, it clicked: Why not make this a real thing? Late-night brainstorming sessions turned into shared shipments of fragrance oils, texts full of disastrous first attempts ("Why does my vanilla smell like burnt toast?"), and eventually… something beautiful. Their passion became more than just candles—it was therapy wrapped in wax and wicks. And as their collections grew (alongside toddler messes), they realized: life burned brightest when lit together.

(And yes—some batches still smell like "regret," but that's part of the charm.) 🔥

Rico and Riley had always been dreamers—but life had a way of putting dreams on hold. Between diaper changes, preschool drop-offs, and the general chaos of motherhood, their candle-making hobby was their only escape. Then came the game-changing moment: Rico packed up her life (and her toddler) and moved in with Riley.

Suddenly, what started as late-night wax experiments became something bigger. Their dining room turned into a candle lab—fragrance oils lined the kitchen table, melted wax stained every dish towel, and test burns were a daily hazard (“Is that bergamot or burning plastic?”). But they loved it.

Soon enough, R & R Candle Co. was born—named not just after them but for rest & relaxation. Their mission? To create more than candles; to craft little moments of peace in an overwhelming world. Every scent told a story: warm vanilla for the stressed mom who needed 10 minutes alone; cedarwood for the overworked dad pretending to meditate in his car; citrus-blends to remind people that joy still existed beneath laundry piles and deadlines.

And sure—some batches still smelled suspiciously like "regret." But now? That regret funded wine nights (and maybe preschool tuition). Most importantly… they’d built more than a business. They’d built a tiny beacon of calm in an exhausting world—one flickering wick at a time.
